Ming Bridges is truly an International Girl, having spent the first sixteen years of her life living in Singapore, before moving to the UK for sixth form. Ming was awarded a Music Scholarship to Wellington College in the UK (for Overall Excellence in the Performing Arts) where she has been extremely active in the Arts scene. Ming is a strong academic student having recently achieved 39 points at her International Baccalaureate diploma.
Ming's introduction to the entertainment world was winning the Teenage Icon competition in Singapore at the age of 13. Ming has since become an accomplished Vocal performer in Singapore with Public Performances including the opening and theme song for the Mens (U21) Hockey World Cup, New Years Party at Marina Barrage, and performances at the Esplanade and Eden Hall (High Commissioners residence). Ming is also sought after for Private performances which include both clubs and commercial functions.
Ming is also locally known for her Acting, having starred as Roxy in the 26 episode double series Singapore Teenage Drama R.E.M. which won the Best Child Program at the Asian TV Awards. Ming is also no newcomer to the stage, having performed as the Mother in a Billy Elliot Wellington production.
Born to a British father and Singaporean mother, Ming Bridges has proven to be more than just a pretty face, for not only can she sing, act, model and dance, her talent for song-writing was discovered during a meeting with Singapore’s veteran musicians Eric Ng and Xiaohan. “I Want You Back” was the very song that Ming played for them during the meeting.
Combining dance, folk and pop rock elements, “I Want You Back” is a fresh and catchy tune armed with lyrics that speaks of heartbreaks and dilemmas.
Ming has recently been signed up by Funkie Monkies in Singapore and is currently recording an album in both English & Mandarin. Her first single ‘I want you back’ is being released in November, followed by a Mandarin track in January. After 15 months of intense song-writing and recording, Ming Bridge’s debut album consisting of 9 English songs and 3 Chinese songs is due for release in February 2012.
Ming plans to return to the UK to attend University in October 2012. She has secured a place at Kings College London to read Business Management, having considered both Music & Drama options. She attended a Vocal course at Berklee in June 2010, and a Musical Theatrical course at RADA in Aug 2010.
