by Craig HarrisThe spirituality of gospel music is adapted to the musical traditions of the Celtic isles by Eden's Bridge. According to lead vocalist Sarah Lacy, the group's goal is to "compose honest lyrics that communicate with our holy God and give Him praise."
The early albums by Eden's Bridge -- Celtic Psalms and Celtic Worship -- were the first Celtic albums listed on the Top 100 Christian Albums charts compiled by Billboard. In 1998, Eden's Bridge released three albums: Celtic Praise, Celtic Worship, Volume II and Celtic Christmas.
In addition to Lacy, Eden's Bridge features David Bird (six- and 12-string acoustic and electric guitars, brush guitar, cittern, fretless bass and backing vocals), Richard Lacy (piano, keyboards, Hammond organ, bodhran [tippered and brushed], rainsticks, shakers, Jude's chime, finger cymbals, backing vocals, tambourine and circular blade saw) and Jon Large (four- and five-string fretted and fretless basses). Guests on their albums have included Terl Bryant (Sonor drums, Zildjian cymbals, Burma bell, small bells, chimes, spanner chimes, ganzas, tambourine, tambourims, pandeiro, cowbells, jam blocks, shakers, multi guiro, chick-chock, Malachy Bodhran [tippered and brushed], zil-bel, caxixi, shell chimes, dholak and earth plates), Troy Donockley (low whistles, Uillean pipes and tin whistle), Simon Goodall (additional backing vocals) and Simon Wood (tin whistle).
