In May 1994, King Crimson reformed and started rehearsing as a double trio (Adrian Belew, Bill Bruford, Robert Fripp, Trey Gunn, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto). The practical difficulties of six people working and touring together – logistical problems and huge expenses; expectations from audiences and from the group itself – gave birth to the idea of the band’s “fractalisation” to groups of three, the so called ProjeKcts. This small-unit approach “l(fā)oosened the band’s view of itself” and produced a unique blend of music stretching from Crimso-style improvisatory jazz to innovative nu-metal. ProjeKct Two was the second sub-group planned yet chronologically the first that went into action (November 1997).
