by Greg PratoBlack Sun Ensemble was a short-lived psychedelic rock band, consisting of founding members Jesus Acedo and Odin Helginson, as well as Michael Glidiwell and Tony Edelbrock. Hailing from Tucson, AZ, the quartet originally formed in 1988, the same year the quartet issued a self-titled debut for the Reckless label. Further releases soon followed, 1989s Lambent Flame, 1990s Tragic Magic, and 1991s Elemental Forces, before the group split up. Not much was heard from Black Sun Ensemble until 2000, when a pair of new releases, 2000s Sky Pilot and a 2001 reissue of their self-titled release, suddenly appeared.
