From its foundation in 1971 the Chilingirian Quartet has been one of the world's most celebrated and widely-travelled ensembles, renowned for its thrilling interpretations of the great quartets and commanding performances of the contemporary repertoire. The Quartet is composed of Levon Chilingirian (violin), Philip De Groote (cello), Ronald Birks (violin), and Susie Meszaros (viola) - four highly accomplished musicians who blend their distinct voices into a single extraordinary sound, a sound that is powerful and precise, richly interpretive, and always true to the composer's vision.

For four decades, the Chilingirian String Quartet has thrilled critics and audiences around the world. Today, the Quartet continues to build on its legacy with an energetic touring schedule, an ever-expanding repertoire, and an extensive and critically-acclaimed discography of works by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Bartok, Dvorak, as well as groundbreaking recordings of masterworks by contemporary composers such as Michael Tippett, John Tavener, Hugh Wood, and Michael Berkeley.

As the Royal College of Music?|s Quartet-in-Residence, they have been affiliated since 1988 with the RCM ?V the Hong Kong Academy's partner organisation in London.
