by Greg PratoIt seems as though the rock record buying public just can't get enough of rap-metal in the early 21st century, as proven as the emergence of such further genre supporters as Dislocated Styles. The six-piece Phoenix, AZ, group is comprised of members Brandon Lawson(MC,) Jason Dubree (MC/DJ), Chuck Epperly (guitars), Greg Forney (keyboards/vocals), Joe Boogie (bass/vocals), and Clancy McCarthy (drums), and came together around 1996. After building a following in nearby Tempe, Dislocated Styles began booking shows in California on a regular basis, spreading out their fan base in the process (and opening for such national acts as Incubus, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Snot, and Papa Roach, among others). Soon after, the sextet issued a pair of releases they put out themselves -- the Spanking the Funky EP and the full-length Elevator Music -- catching the attention of Roadrunner Records, who signed the group in 1999. April 2001 saw the release of their second full-length, Pin the Tail on the Honkey, recorded in Sherman Oaks, CA, and produced by Howard Benson (P.O.D., Zebrahead).
