Gabrielle Aapri was born in Bathurst, Australia. The youngest of four daughters, she exhibited an uncanny ability to imitate whatever she heard musically. As a nine-month-old infant, she could hum the pitch of the doorbell or kitchen mixer.
By the age of four, Gabrielle began her formal piano studies at her mother‘s Music Naturally Studio, which is based on the Suzuki method. By the age of eight, she had composed her first piano solo, which remains in her performance repertoire today.
Gabrielle received her first KORG keyboard at age 12 and began composing music with an early version of Cakewalk at age 15. She attended Wayland Baptist University, in Lubbock, Texas, from 2002 to 2004 as a student of music
composition. In the summer of 2004 she spent two weeks in Edinburgh, Scotland at the Ian Tomlin School of Music. While there she studied under two-time Emmy-award winning composer Hummie Mann, of the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program.
After returning from Edinburg, Gabrielle spent two years studying composition and film scoring at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Her first album, “Anywhere,” was composed, recorded, and produced in her home studio. The album, completed in the Fall of 2011, is a collection of introspective, encouraging and inspiring melodies.
