For Amanda Kaye, music feels like home. It is a place of escape; a place without boundaries where she can express her innermost self through song. A performer of several musical styles carried by her beauty, natural ability and raw talent, Amanda Kaye is quickly becoming a memorable name and face in the Canadian music scene.
Growing up in Toronto, Canada, she dreamed that one day her love of singing would also play a significant role in her professional life. Since her beginnings in amateur theatre and choirs at the age of 11, Amanda’s most recent work has been part of many arenas from film to rock operas to television.
Along with an impressive resume of performances around the province of Ontario, Amanda Kaye has dedicated a lot of her time to working with charities; with involvement in musical fundraisers for the Sick Kids Foundation, East Metro Youth Services and The Living Room (a Markham-based recovery facility for youth living with mental illness).
Amanda is also the founder of Get Grounded; a series of charity concerts that help raise awareness about mental illness and support for the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Her undying endeavor to support worthy causes is gracefully comparable to her songwriting efforts. The tragic and sudden loss of her brother Daniel in 2004 acted as the catalyst for the direction of her music and helped shape the performer she has become. From this heartbreak, she has created a body of work with moving lyrics, genuine honesty and heartfelt messages of life, love and loss. “I wouldn’t change a thing,” she says. “My music directly reflects who I am, where I have been and where I am headed. It represents my reflections and beliefs about this life.”
Amanda’s vocal ability has been described as “as real as it gets” complemented with “moving performances” by Toronto producer Danny K and artist Roma Page. With an effortless ability to fly through different styles and genres, her voice fills the soul with meaning – resonating long after the performance is over.
